Synopsis

Plot

Jake overhears Sheriff Hill finalizing plans to assassinate a controversial preacher spreading progressive ideas across the old west. Knowing the preacher's death would ignite violence, Jake is compelled to intervene, seeking redemption for his past misdeeds.

Jake kidnaps Rose, the woman he had taken hostage years ago, forcing her to help him sneak into town undetected. At first Rose refuses, but realizes Jake has changed and wants to prevent bloodshed.

Sheriff Hill's men surround the church as the preacher delivers his final sermon. From the rafters, Jake takes aim at the assassins. Rose slips through the crowd to warn the preacher, who boldly continues preaching peace.

A gunfight erupts inside the crowded church. Jake picks off two assassins before confronting Sheriff Hill. The Sheriff draws first, wounding Jake, who manages to shoot the Sheriff dead.

The remaining assassins flee as the preacher calms the panicked congregation. Jake collapses, finally at peace with himself. Rose comforts him as he takes his last breath, having redeemed himself through sacrifice.

The preacher's progressive ideas spread further following the failed assassination attempt, thanks to Jake's bold actions. Though Jake didn't live to see the change he helped bring about, his sacrifice ensured the preacher's message of peace would ring out across the old west.
