As Mount Vesuvius erupts in the 17th century for the first time in over a millennium, an unscrupulous relic hunter scales the ash-choked ruins of Pompeii in pursuit of a fabled Roman treasure, only to be hunted by both rival treasure seekers and locals who believe his greed has awoken the mountain's wrath.
